Nathaniel Braeuer it's been a long time since I felt like I happened on a place forgotten, a zone of the map unmarked or long-faded. With Khalum Zilam that transport is instant - like a kid cut loose in a railyard, uncovering puddles of reflection, Cerca’s sounds are aurally oxidizing, wondrous and sparse, with bits of clang and clatter springing from somewhere beyond - to feel that lost-in-the-map again. Khalum Zilam was written last summer in the kitchen studio across very many late nights. One morning I woke up from a dream where an anthropomorph greeted another: "khalum zilam." Words in a language from a country not on the map, some place I'd like to be.
